Satyrium caryaevorus

Observation date: June 29, 2019

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This butterfly was observed during our Soddy-Daisy butterfly survey. Elizabeth Wolfe and I were the only two people to observe and photographed butterfly. The bands of the postmedian bands cells were edged in white. The bands on the fore-wings widened towards the outer edge. The blue patch on the hind wing was larges and extended inward substantially further than the orange patch.

Coordinator notes: Took me a while between this and Satyrium calanus to be honest. The clincher for me was the outer forewing spots running all the way up nearly to tip. Satyrium calanus does not. Good eye - thank you!
