Clark's sphinx
Proserpinus clarkiae

Observation date: June 21, 2020
Submitted by: Natural DeBee
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was feeding on a cat mint plant. I planted Morning Primrose plants last year in a garden that also has pincushion flowers that it was interested in. I note that a proserpinus clarkiae listed in my Pacific Northwest Insects book sounds similar to this one and places and the larvae feeds on the morning primrose. They do not have a picture. it, of course, has very quick wing movements - hard to capture with a camera. It was sunny and about 84° out. A bit of a breeze.
