Observation notes: On a Fennel-lined trail in Calavera Open Space, I watched an Anise Swallowtail laying eggs on an inaccessible plant, so I decided to look on some of the closer plants for cats and eggs. The very first limb I looked at had this late stage cat a few inches above my hand. As I peeled away a stem for a better picture, the cat reared up, apparently aware of my presence.
