Observation notes: Sunny afternoon. Large numbers of C. promethea were seen between 4 and 6 pm - as many as 20. I've never seen anything like this. I later learned that the instars had been seen during the previous year (and many were eaten by chickens, it seems). I only saw male promethea moths at this time.
