Observation notes: On the stem of desert four o’clocks. Full sun. Not actively eating but sitting stretched out on the main stem of the plant head upwards toward sun. Nearby plants include evening primrose, Mexican hat, prairie clover, chocolate flower, liatris, goldenrod and desert sea foam holly. Also several honeysuckle vines.

Coordinator notes: Your suggested ID is correct. More specifically, this is our commonest sphinx moth, the White-lined Sphinx. Based on the various host and nectar plants you list, it sounds like your yard is a perfect haven for the White-lined Sphinx!
