Nessus sphinx
Amphion floridensis

Observation date: May 30, 2020
Submitted by: Rursulaine
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This moth looked a lot like a hummingbird crossed with a bee. However, it wasn’t exactly what I saw in pictures of a snowberry clearwing, so I’m not sure if that’s what it was.
Status: Resident
Verified by: Sue Gregoire
Verified date: May 31, 2020
Coordinator notes: Closely related to Clearwing. Both are in the Sphinx subfamily macroglossinae. A. nessus is less common.
