Echo Azure
Celastrina echo

Observation date: May 17, 2020
Submitted by: MTmariposa
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This individual was the only one I saw with these markings at a mud puddle that was otherwise filled with Celastrina ladon with more "typical" Spring Azures.
Status: Resident
Verified by: J_Martineau
Verified date: May 21, 2020
Coordinator notes: The markings on Celastrina sp. are variable so it's likely the same as the others you saw. It seems like the jury is still out on what species are where, but the concensus is C. echo is considered the most widely distributed western species, which is why I identified it as such. I'm not confident Celastrina species can be identified based on appearance alone.
