Observation notes: This butterfly spent a long time (15 minutes or more) nectaring on the blooms of a male American Holly. Nearby host plants include a forest of cottonwood, green ash, black cherry, so plenty of places to raise its young. Weather was warm and sunny, around 78 degrees F. Location is suburban, a one acre backyard in a creek bottom.
