Gulf Fritillary
Agraulis vanillae

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I noticed the unusual butterfly sitting in bad shape (bent wings) on my driveway. I raise monarchs, so I am used to them, but the bright silvery underwing spots were very distinctive. Also the thorax is brightly colored and spotted, which was hard to miss. While moving it to nearby lantana I easily took many photos. What a beauty!!
