Hickory Tussock Moth or Hickory Tiger Moth
Lophocampa caryae

Observation date: October 17, 2019
Submitted by: Nazarene77
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was in the front hallway entrance of the building where I live. This is my 3rd sighting of a Tussock Moth Caterpillar this year. I had never seen anything like this before and it was amazing. The 1st one I saw was also a Hickory Tussock Caterpillar and it was bright yellow. The next one was a Marked Tussock Caterpillar which was the strangest looking of all 3. Then this Hickory Tussock Caterpillar from today which was white. I must admit that the Marked Tussock Caterpillar startled me and I killed it but I still have photos of it and videos of the 2 Hickory Tussocks.
