Coordinator notes: Catch and keep these as they are hard to get in good condition and are really not that commonly found. This is a good year for it here as there have been several reports up into El Paso Co. Another reason you should catch and keep these is that I confirmed a specimen of Erynnis tristis from Roxborough Park (Douglas Co.). It also has a white fringe and was collected on about the same date you reported for this funeralis. It can be difficult to tell the two apart on the upper side from photos unless you can get a good shot of the underside on which the edge of the hindwing has fairly large white spots connected to the edge of the wing (which also separates it from E. pacuvius).
