Imperial moth
Eacles imperialis

Observation date: September 17, 2019
Submitted by: Colette Grace
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The caterpillar does not seem to be able to hold on to things very well like a monarch caterpillar does. Temp. 60 degrees outside when I found him, clear beautiful evening, I was on a walk and the caterpillar was walking down the road. There were both white pine and red pine maple trees, as well as ash and cherry and aspen. I brought him home carefully for a photo shoot and will be letting him go near where I found him but not in the road.
