Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Date notes: Saw first Caterpillar on 8/26/19, noticed the cocoons on 8/28/19 and saw the first moth on 9/1/19

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found on a pot of cardinal flowers in bloom, has morning sun and dappled sun in the evening. First noticed two caterpillars, one appears to be building its cocoon in the picture. Went back a few days later and found 12 webbed cocoons (is that what they are called?) We started watching them and this morning (9/1/19) found a moth drying itself. Also found two more smaller caterpillars.
