Lesser Maple Spanworm Moth
Speranza pustularia

Observation date: August 23, 2019
Submitted by: Ed Harrison
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Temp mid 60s F. Specimen found alive but resting on deck boards. The overall color is very light, but some darker spots are apparent on close inspection. Based on these and the size (wingspan ~ 20 mm), this maybe a Lesser Maple Spanworm. BUT, I’d like another opinion on that. Close-up of the feathery antennae show it’s a male.
