Observation notes: new set of caterpillars on the same Cowpen Daisy bush in my alley. there are several crowded little groups of them, each at the end of a weed branch. The recent other group disappeared, no chrysalis anyway, just gone. maybe ants got them? They don't eat the whole leaf, but leave it like a leaf-skeleton.
PS. 8/31 - found hatched chrysalis on the plant, see pic. There are several other cremasters, but this was the only actual full empty shell. Adult Brodered Patch butterflies seen in the alley and general vicinity.
