Observation date: August 15, 2019
Submitted by: Papa Ron
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: two of them were flying around the thistle blossoms. wingspan approx. 2.5-3 inches
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: By "cabbage variety," I'm assuming you meant the Cabbage White, Pieris rapae. This is actually the much more elusive (and beautiful) Pine White, Neophasia menapia. The Cabbage White isn't usually found in the same habitat as the Pine White, but when it is, the Cabbage White is much more plainly marked. Nice sighting; for the most part, this is the hardest white to locate and photograph in Colorado.
