Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Seen at Baker Wetlands after a long heavy rain. Stayed put for several minutes while I photographed it, then flew across the path to another Viceroy, where they briefly twirled about each other in the air, then both rested on a tall dead stem. The initial one I saw only stayed for half a minute then flew off while the other one remained on the stem. Size: Approx. 2.5 - 2.75" wingspan. Weather: 77 degrees, 95% humidity, had just finished sprinkling 30 minutes before, heavy rains all day yesterday into this morning, overcast skies.
