Green Cloverworm Moth
Hypena scabra

Observation date: July 30, 2019
Submitted by: elkeno
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: this brown fluttery (2cm) moth was flying between shaded dead leaves in a city park. Probably more than one. A little bit of a snout, very short, swept back antennnae (i think) and "+" cross on back ( not sure if this is diagnostic). Any insight is appreciated
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: The straight horizontal line is indeed diagnostic. This species has a lot of variability in appearance but that line always gives it away. The vertical line is merely where the wings meet but yes, can make a cross which is sometimes visible like this. SG
