Observation notes: I've been seeing this vagrant Afro-Asian species of moth (Glyphodes onychinalis) around my house since 2007. On July 23, 2019, I captured one while it rested on an azalea, and I photographed it as it rested on the bottom of a glass jar. The location was in my Culver City, CA, front yard at Lat, Lon = 33.995080, -118.386144 It was described in News of the Lepidopterists' Society, Volume 50, Number 3,4 in late 2008. I usually see this adult moth starting in March, during a hot spell, and their numbers peak around June and July. The dorsal view photo has no obstruction, while the ventral view photo was taken through the bottom of a glass jar and may show a bit of distortion.
