Observation notes: I was watching a favorite Mock Vervain bush along a small semi-shaded trail, and saw what I thought was a large bumblebee. It did have an unique butter-colored "shield" on its back, which I found interesting. It was not until I examined the photos later that I discovered it was a moth! This bush is unproductive in the mornings, when in shade, but later when in full sunlight, it attracts a large variety of insects.
