Observation notes: It was a beautiful sunny day in the Deerlodge National Forest on the Beaver Ponds trail off of Highway 2. The butterfly was just fluttering around me and landed on the trail and sat there. The underside of the wings were a dark grey color. Total size you can see by the pine needles which were about 1 1/2-2 inches long.
