Coordinator notes: Correct identification. Members of this entire complex of similar-looking swallowtails (Papilio indra, P. machaon bairdii, P. m. machaon, P. polyxenes, and P. zelicaon) can be quite confusing to ID sometimes, and many can even hybridize! However, the Anise Swallowtail always has a relatively centered black pupil in the reddish-orange hindwing spot, and never has a dotted abdomen.
