Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Saw several of these while at the dog park, first three in a wooded area of tall black cherry trees (many covered with lichens and algae), junipers, and tall grasses. Area was very muddy and wet due to several days of heavy rain. They stayed on the perimeter and seemed to follow my path flying between the trees and always landing on a black cherry trunk. The fourth one I saw was near the pond, again on a black cherry trunk on the periphery of a wooded area. That one appeared to have a small puncture-type wound (?) with a few small spots of blood on the lower part of its abdomen. Size of each: Approx. 2-2.25". Weather: Partly sunny, 60 degrees, 65% humidity.
