Observation notes: Saw three of these Admirals on a row of about seven large Lilac shrubs all filled with blossoms (some the traditional lavender color, some a little more pink or violet). It was very windy out so occasionally the wind seemed to carry the butterflies off to the next blossom. Sizes: Approx. 2" each, the first one seemed a tad faded with some nicks in its wings while the third one's wings were intact and its coloring a little more vivid. (Couldn't get any photos of #2.) Weather: Approx. 83 degrees, mostly sunny skies, low humidity with strong winds.
