Observation notes: Numerous individuals swarming over and around my currently flowering Purple-leaf Plum [Prunus x cerasifera]. First noticed last evening (3-19-19) around sunset; appeared again this a.m. once temps warmed. Not as many as yesterday due to wind. A few actively feeding but most just flying.
Nota bene: this species has been reported in large numbers migrating from south to north. First appearing in southern California about a week ago.
