Observation notes: Came to external house lights at night. First seen at 5 AM ID suggested by Chris Schmidt. However, Katsumi Ishizuka and Martin Honey (Natural History Museum London) feel this is Catocala hermia - "Underwing color of luciana is pale scarlet ,like salmon-pink, while hermia is crimson-red. Fore wing of luciana is more pale browish than hermia in general."

Coordinator notes: Tentative ID (as most Catocala IDs are), based primarily on intensity of red, especially when compared to the other possible species of luciana and semirelicta.
