Observation notes: I didn't know about the butterfliesandmoths website back when I took this photo so am submitting now, if that's ok, even though 9 years has gone by. I didn't know then what it was except that it was a moth, but after looking at some moths on the website I see that it has traits similar to Hemileuca so I'm starting with that suggested identification.
