Observation notes: Observed initially in the air and noticed the coloring, but small size... hoping for a Viceroy! It landed on some rotting fruit for a little sustenance and posed quite nicely for me. Other butterflies on the fruit were Commas, Question Marks, and Red Admirals. There were also many insects, bees and flies and ants. There are willow and cottonwood trees in the vicinity.
