Observation notes: Location is Knox County, Ohio I found this caterpillar on my front porch. It looked like it was looking for a place to cocoon. I do not know its host plant. I did put it in a box with paper towels and a few holes in the top and will leave it on my front porch. If it makes it through the process I will submit another picture. This caterpillar had one large black eye in the middle of the top of its head. When it was stretched out crawling it was more than 2 inches long. It has a small black "horn" on the back end. When I nudged it into the box it flicked its body with surprising strength and kept flicking for a while even after I got it into the box.
