Observation notes: Noticed this caterpillar near the base of a tickweed sunflower, chewing on the leaves of the blossoms, possibly the flower petals, too. Long dark grayish hairs, some tiny white spots on the black body, orange nodules/humps, yellow-orange feet and yellow-orange ring around the mouth. Touched it lightly with a sedge weed and it reared up and showed its mouth. Size: Approx. 2" in length. Weather: Beautiful, approx. 80 degrees, light winds. .
