Observation notes: Seen in Lorie's garden on whorled milkweed (Ascelepias verticillata), sunny day. No temperature information. During the observation, the butterfly did not visit any other plant. (Private Property).

Coordinator notes: Hi Janeal, This is a Juniper Hairstreak but you are in an area where it blends with the more eastern Gryneus or Olive Hairstreak (I think they are commonly calling it). There must be some Junipers around (I know there are south of Lamar into the canyon areas). That is the host but it can colonize local junipers grown for ornimentals in towns. Maybe Lorie has some of these bordering her gardens or there is another concentration nearby? Mike
