Coordinator notes: The Aphrodite Fritillary - note the brown eyes. You will always identify this fritillary correctly from its eyes being brown. The other species commonly found SW of Denver are gray-blue. Some other species have brown eyes but you probably won't see any of them - only a couple rarely along the eastern Front Range in Colorado (the Great Spangled Fritillary and Regal Fritillary are recorded from there but they are rarely seen - others include the Nokomis Fritillary (in southern and southwestern Colorado only) and Diana Fritillary found only in the Eastern part of the U.S.).
