Our 2023 fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. Your support is vital to the project. Please make a recurring or one-time donation to sustain this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: It was a huge version of a lunata zale. Had the correct markings and colors. But it was much bigger than 40-55mm wingspan. Each wing from tip to head was about 60+mm.
Image of my hand is flipped, but it has the measurement with a tape measure to correlate size approximately.

Coordinator notes: Very nice find. It is unusual for this species to stray so far north, though it has been seen as far north as southern Canada.
