Coordinator notes: Pyrgus communis and Pyrgus albescens are indistinguishable from field photographs. The only wholly reliable means of identification is by examination of the male valves using a microscope. However, after having done such examinations for a few years, I have found only P. communis in northeast Tennessee. So based on the location, there is a very high probability that this is P. communis.
