Coordinator notes: Speyeria aphrodite has brown eyes. These don't look real brown (and can be affected by the sunlight) but they are not gray-blue like the other species (nokomis, idalia and diana all have brown eyes also). There is a place in Delta County where I have found some with grayish-brown eyes, almost as though they is a hybrid between S. aphrodite and S. hesperis. The underside can be very similar on both.
