Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio glaucus

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This moth/butterfly to be began looking as pictured, on the back side of my privacy fence closest to the wetter side of the property, an abundance of different trees & shrubbery, but over the course of a few days, part of it seemed to 'shrivel' and harden, while remaining alive (I check daily). It is attached by two thick, strong 'strings' that has withstood all the heavy rains we've had. I've spent hours online & with my 'bug, insect & spider' groups, but there's no finite answer.
