Observation notes: Was almost as large as a Monarch, upper section quite dark brown in color (had never seen this kind of butterfly before), sailing through and around the trees at the park (Oaks, American Sycamore, Bald Cypress and a nearby butterfly flower bed featuring Butterfly Bushes, Zinnias, tall fountain grasses, Salvia, Angelonia, and Portuluca) and winded up landing on the bottom side of a high branch in a Maple tree. Weather: 95 degrees, 40% humidity, sunny. Size: Approx. 3.5-4" wingspan
