Observation notes: We arrived on site at the Calcite Springs observation area, Yellowstone National Park on July 15, 2018. Our first photograph of the Yellowstone "Narrows" at Calcite Springs was taken at 10:52 a.m. We spent some time on site viewing that canyon. We then walked from the viewing platform down a small path to look for bears that a friend had sighted at the side of the parking lot. As I walked I saw the butterfly shown here perched on what I believe to be Cushion Buckwheat and photographed it 3x before it flew off. The time was 11:14 a.m.
