Observation notes: Time: 1:55 p.m. Weather: Warm, moderately windy, and partly cloudy, with a massive thunderstorm approaching from the west. Habitat: Short-cut field of morning glories, mallow, dandelions, grass, and various other weeds. Notes: This common checkered-skipper landed on a patch of dirt in the field, allowing me to get a very close look to confirm identification. As it slowly spread its wings, it abruptly darted off.
