Observation notes: This moth flew into my house when I opened my door. I don't remember seeing this species around here before. If I have it has been awhile and I doubt it is common. Your map shows the furthest west that luciana gets is the east slope of the Rockies in Colorado. This was found in Gunnison Colorado on the west slope of the Rockies.

Coordinator notes: This moth has been known as hermia for years. Recent analysis reveals that it will be Catocala californica in the upcoming treatment on this moth group. Hermia will no longer be a valid name, so you may see both names refer to the same insect for a while. All the hermia records will eventually be added to californica (will take some more time for this to happen).
Checklist region(s): Gunnison County, United States, Colorado
