Coordinator notes: A brightly colored Snow's Copper female (Lycaena cupreus snowi). You must have been at or above timberline where you took this picture? Female Ruddy Coppers are never this orange and a larger percentage of female snowi are darker than this one. Mike
12/27/2024: Revised my original identification noted in my note above...the altitude at the site indicated is in the vicinity of 9000 ft.+... the brightest female purplish-copper I have seen at that altitude...brighter than those of helloides at truly low altitude (under 6000 ft.) and very unusual for subspecies sangremar...the scientific name for reference is Tharsalea florus sangremar (Scott).
