Elephant Hawk Moth

Observation date: June 28, 2018
Submitted by: ButterflyandMot...
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I found this beauty in Ferndale WA outside Edaleen Dairy Store 5905 Portal Way in Ferndale WA State USA that sells to the public! Date was Thursday June 28th at around 2 pm. His wings looked like leaves! I didn't have a ruler with me but I think he was about 3 and 1/2 inches in length. His head was facing upwards but when I uploaded the photos they were all 'upside down' with his head pointing downward for some reason. He was on the wall above some red-orange geraniums and yellow flowers just "chilling!" It was a warm, sunny day and he was in full sun! He was on the east side of the wall of the public store selling ice cream and other dairy products from their cows!

Coordinator notes: There have been a couple of Whatcom County reports so far, but this further documents its continued march southward. Well done!
