Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: sunny and windy
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Based on the date and dorsal markings this is the Coronis Fritillary. It is not the Great Spangled Fritillary because it is not dark enough in the basal area on the wings and it is too early of date; it is not Edwards Fritillary because the black wing borders on both sets of wings is not black enough (there are uniform ground color openings); it is also too early for the Northwestern Fritillary (Speyeria hesperis) and also not dark enough in the basal portion of the wings. The area south of Glade Park on Pinion Mesa more fits the habitat of Coronis also along with time of flight. Mike
