Coordinator notes: This is actually the Taxiles Skipper, common throughout most of Colorado, whereas the Fiery Skipper is an eastern species that rarely strays to the Front Range, much less the Western Slope. This looks like a slightly worn individual, probably emerging a few days before your sighting. Unusally for butterflies, this species loves flying on cloudy days and in shady riparian areas.
