Observation notes: This small butterfly, along with other beings of the same species, are calm making it easy to photograph them. They're usually not as easily startled as other butterflies, from my observations, when approached calmly. He or she was also sitting on that flower (Spanish Needle) for a few minutes. It would spin 180 degrees from time to time and rub its lower wings. After a few minutes, it was finally disrupted when a dragonfly almost caught him or her as prey. This photo was taken in a backyard where Spanish Needles, along with other Florida wildflowers, thrive in abundance. It shares this area with more than 12 other butterfly species.
