Persius Duskywing
Erynnis persius

Observation date: May 27, 2018
Submitted by: A_baldini
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Time: 12:30 p.m. Elevation: 8,178 ft. (lower montane). General Weather Conditions: Partly cloudy, with a few raindrops falling here and there. Moderately breezy (12-14 mph). Observation Notes: Along with a huge swarm seen at a mud puddle earlier, several of these duskywings were patrolling in and around a grove of Golden Banner (Thermopsis sp.). Some may have been females looking to lay eggs. My suggested ID is based on host plant presence and abundance level, in addition to physical appearance.

Coordinator notes: Your identification is correct, the Persius Duskywing. Glad you had closer-up pictures as sometimes these things are hard to tell at distance. They also look like Cloudywings. Mike
