Observation notes: 5;30 am turned on my back porch light and opened the door to let my cat out to see approximately 20-30 of these moths flying around on my back porch, I immediately closed the door so they would not be harmed and turned the light out. When I walked out later at dawn there was one moth that appeared to be dying. The wing span of the moth in the picture is 6.25 in. Host trees in our yard lilacs, maples and willows in the forest behind our home there is a stream. We use no pesticides on our property of over 25 years, have left the forest area natural and untouched and practice permaculture gardening. There were so many that this appeared to a migratory flock.
