Observation notes: I saw at least 8 over the period of about 20 minutes at Mason's Neck State Park, Lorton, Va. They were flying very quickly in an around plants that were on the edge of the tree line, which in turn was not far from the water, Belmont Bay. At times they seemed to be chasing each other, perhaps the males looking for females. I'm not sure what the plants were that they sometimes briefly landed on. I got lucky, the 1 landed about 3 feet from me on the ground and stayed long enough to get a few photos. I'm also including a photo of 1 on the plants.
