Southern Pearly-eye
Enodia portlandia

Observation date: July 13, 2016
Submitted by: wallap74
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I based my ID primarily on the black in the antenna club. This is not a known location for Creole Pearly-eye. By the way I sent the message below to the BMONA. Can you correct the location? The location on my sighting 1150915 (Eastern Pygmy-Blue) is incorrect (my mistake). It should be Grand Isle in Jefferson Parish, LA, rather than Rutherford Beach in Cameron Parish. Is there any way to correct that?

Coordinator notes: This specimen looks to be an intermediate between Southern and Creole Pearly Eyes, but it looks more like a Southern than Creole, so that is what I believe it is. While it has a somewhat bulging pm line like Creole, it does become pointed like Southern. The inner band looks more smooth like Southern, not spiked like Creole. Finally, I see no strong black on the antenna clubs like Creole should have, just a small hint on the sides. SAT
