Spotted Phosphila
Phosphila miselioides

Observation date: September 02, 2017
Submitted by: Mary Franceline...
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Moth flew onto screened-in porch having one story of building under it. House is on a hill going to a pond. Moth landed on porch floor. I thought it might have died so I touched its wind with edge my fingernail. Moth flew itself over. Later when I checked it, it had died. Moth was about 3/4 inch in size. I looked in Peterson Field Guide to Moths of Northeastern North America; photo and explanation on pp. 430-431, seemed a good fit
